Electrolysis is the only permanent method of hair removal.
What is electrolysis?
Electrolysis is the removal of unwanted hair through the use of a
tiny probe which is gently applied to the base of the hair follicle.
A small amount of electrical energy is discharged which destroys
the hair growth tissue. When this is accomplished regenerative
cells of the hair follicle are PERMANENTLY ELIMINATED.
How many treatments are required?
Completion times vary for each individual depending on the coarseness of the hair, the
number of hairs to be removed and if temporary methods, such as waxing or shaving
were previously used. Other factors that influence the length of the treatment are
individual hair growth cycles, as well as hereditary and hormonal function. Treatment
sessions can range from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated.
Is electrolysis painful?
Most people experience a warm, tingling sensation while undergoing treatment.
Adjustments can be made which will help to make the treatment more comfortable.
Can unwanted hair be removed from anywhere on the body?
Unwanted hair can be safely removed from almost any body area. The most common
treatment areas:
Women: Upper lip, Chin, Eyebrows, Cheeks, Hairline, Breasts, Bikini Line,
Chest, Underarms
Men: Eyebrows, Hairline, Beard, Neck, Shoulders, Back, Chest
Do electrologists follow appropriate infection control procedures?
The American Electrology Association has written Standards for Infection Control
following the most recent recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC),
the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Association for
Practitioners in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).
Does electrolysis have any side effects on the skin?
There may be a slight redness and/or swelling immediately after the treatment which
usually disappears within a few hours. Electrolysis has been performed for over 135
years and has proven to be extremely safe.
Why should I choose electrolysis over other hair removal methods?
Electrolysis is the only true permanent hair removal method and the only permanent
treatment recognized by the FDA. Laser promoters compare laser to electrolysis
although laser hair removal is considered a temporary method. The device commonly
used in laser hair removal works by targeting dark colored hair pigment. People with
light colored, red or white hair often see sub-par results from laser treatments.
Waxing, threading and tweezing are alike. They may cause an increase in hair growth
activity. Electrolysis works on most areas of the body to give you a smooth, healthy
looking skin. No other solution claims such universal acceptability and success.
